Interstitial Landscape
Interstitial Landscape is composed of 13 different viewed landscapes in the region of Nord pas de Calais in France. Participants were invited to record a landscape of their choice while simultaneously being recorded themselves. The resulting installation is the produces of these two shot; the two screens show, on one side the landscape, and on the other the participant as they shoot.
The Sound environment
The sound environment was recorded in quadriphony during the sequence filmed. The spectator is placed in the sound landscape that plays a very important role in the re-spatialization of the visited landscape.
Texte du catalogue Panorama 4.
“Set in the interstice of several gazes, the spectator embodies a virtual point on the gaze segment and then moves into the landscape in a corporeal manner. The image is not fixed anymore, the landscape is fragmented and becomes a function of its enunciation, of its experimentation, and of its territorialization.Often, I think to Gilles Deleuze’s rhizome which, for the purpose of this installation, I take as a ‘way of being’. A rhizome: a structure of points revealing the essential line that connects them. In this case, the spectator winds on and about that line.
The global landscape, the installation, becomes a landscape site without limits in its possibilities, built by a series of landscape sights offered by a few dwellers from the metropolis. The landscapes are varied: places for meditation, fascination, contemplation, life, or secret garden suitable for daydreaming.”
