Concept

The project "Hanoi Moments" is an interactive film about Hanoi city. It will show the complexity of Hanoi but also the poesie, the street and her chao, the strange structure of the last socialist republic. The video and the sound have been recorded between september and november 2004. Some anecdotes and poetic thinking about the city, about the complexity of a confucious world accompagne the video. Like in "10 minutes in Nazareth", some extract of blog will be used in the project. 12 hours of video and 3 hours of sound have been collected for this installation. A violin composition is going to be play for this project and will be the hearth of the space connection

Interactive System

"Hanoi Moments" come after "10 minutes in Nazareth" and "Moments Berlinois", two interactiv video installation which are question the cinematographic narration and the space, and specially the question : How could we transform a landscape in a art of narrative territorial landscape ? « 10 minutes à Nazareth » play with the position and the mouvement of person in a film as part of the narration. It question the impossible ubiquity of our gaze. « Moments Berlinois » is a classic interactive story which are playing with the simultaneity of the presentation of different narrativ element like story and images. This allow us to play with hybridation and mix to creat an art of poetic landscape. « Hanoi moments » will be more complexe with the integration of the space embodies in the narrativ interactivity. This interactivity will be focus on two notions, the voyeurism and the dance :

The voyeurism : The video are project in a sphere which are like a narrativ focus point. This sphere are the door, the screen that allow us to see what happen there (even if it is not realtime captation). It is a narrativ focus which are the center of the installation.
The dance : The interactive system involve the place of the spectator. Three step compose the interactive system : 1 The spectator is far, the image are a maelstrom of video. 2 The spectator go to the sphere and the image begin to organise themself following the mouvement of the spectator. 3 The spectator begin to move the hand on the sphere, the video are under control.

When some spectator are at the same time in the space of the installation, the computer mixe the information of the each position to creat a standart position compose of all of the others. The spectator are in process of choregraphie.

Technic

The system will be composed of two camera Infrared to track the spectator, 1 computer to manage the information of the camera and 1 computer to manage the video and sound, 1 sphere and 1 video projector. The software are not completly define but will be probably puredata and isadora.
