Concept and logic

Concept

10 minutes in Nazarethis a moment of wandering in a specific place: a service station shop on the highway between Paris and Lille. A number of people meander thought this place: drivers in transit, a child, mechanics. But the spectators cannot see averything and take an active part in creating the depth of that space. The user-interface controls a vritual layer that triggers the appearance and dissappearance of the characters. Throught this sort of writing, the spectators compose their own film and their wandering.

Some of the customers "recite" blogs. The subjects are: the love, the religion, the video games, the dream, the every day life, the policy in France or a day in Africa... One voice reads all the stories. She embodies this third eye, that of the camera which films this a-panoptique universe and projecte in it a society. --> See the cartopartition of the narration

10 minutes in Nazareth is a 5.30 minutes interactive video playing in a loop. It is not a narrative film following a linear logic and moving from a beginning to an end, but a collection of events that happen in one place. There are as many beginnings as people coming in, and as many ends as people going out of the shop. The whole narration is based on a logic of meandering and passage, and only time is linear. The spectators are confronted with definite compositional choices, insofar as these are inscribed in time, but these can be changed around the next time the situation happens, 5.30 later. Each spectatoris thus the true author, as well as visitor, of a space-time situation based on these compositional choiced.

History of the project

The first version of 10 minutes in Nazareth was a Beta version. The film editing was not completly finished and the story was not what I wanted. The interactiv module was also not good enough. The new version of 10 minutes in Nazareth, which was in Mars 2006 finished, is the finale version. The story are extract of blog. One voice read every story. The new interactiv module is finished and optimised for a good handling. The finale version have not been yet exposed.
